Joyce Cooney

I am the practice owner and have been a counselor for 16 years and have worked with all ages suffering from a variety of issues. It is my privilege to work with individuals who are suffering and come to me ready to heal. I realize how challenging it can be to seek help which is why establishing a healthy, therapeutic relationship with you is a priority and allows for a safe space for the work to begin. Our work is collaborative to empower you to tackle what life brings your way.

I began as a counselor (after being a stay at home mom for 10 years) at a therapeutic high school which afforded me the opportunity to work with families and their teens exhibiting symptoms across the spectrum and learned how difficult it can be to find good mental health support. My goal has always been to provide the best possible care for my clients. This may include collaborating with other practitioners or developing a personal intensive treatment plan that may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Yoga therapy and/or EFT (tapping) among others.

Typically I work weekly with clients in a psychodynamic manner, asking questions to get to the core issue and offering insight. With EMDR, it is an option to work in a more intensive manner where you may opt in for a half (3 hour) or a full (6 hour) up to a 5 day retreat where we immerse in the work of healing incorporating what is needed based on the client.
